The Society of American Magicians

Do not be confused by the name of the Society of American Magicians. It is very easy to think it is for American magicians only, but that is the furthest thing from the truth. The Society of American Magicians (SAM) is an international organization with over 250 Assemblies all over the world. It started with 24 members, and they established it in New York City on May 10, 1902 at Martinka's famous magic shop. Yet that was only the beginning since then they have had over 30,000 who have held membership.

The Society of American Magicians (SAM) has many benefits for members. With Assemblies all over the world, it provides a forum for magicians to seek fellowship with others that have similar interests. Plus, active members receive a monthly publication called M-U-M. The name M-U-M comes from the first letters in the words of SAM's motto, Magic-Unity-Might. This magazine contains articles, advertisements, and news that deal with magic.

If you are interested in becoming a member then check out SAM's Web Page by click on the logo above. You will find that they have many more benefits for members than just the M-U-M magazine. They also have a considerable library of books on magic, as will as a Film & Tape Library of the performances of many great magicians.
